It is also $600 of statement credit, if you let your issuer decide for you. Goatavo puts the cents-per-point on every option before you press anything — then it polls the airline until the seat opens.

None of that is a fantasy budget. Those three redemptions cost 60,000, 30,000 and 25,000 points — and they price at 8.2¢, 4.1¢ and 3.9¢ against what the same rooms and seats sell for in cash.

82,400 at the travel bank · 37,600 at the miles issuer · 0 sitting at an airline
The default your issuer shows you first. One cent a point, no questions, no seat.
25% better, and the ticket earns you no miles and no status. Convenient, not clever.
Same 120,000 points, moved 1:1. JFK to Paris and back in business is 100,000 of them against a $2,240 fare each way, and you still hold 20,000.
Same 120,000 points. $4,200 of difference.
And 4.5¢ is the median transfer, not the ceiling — the ANA seat at the top of this page prices at 8.2¢. The cash-out button is the most expensive button in your account.
Transfer bonuses appear with no warning and expire on a schedule that suits the issuer. They are also the cheapest way a balance ever gets bigger. We watch all of them and put a clock on each one.
Park Hyatt Kyoto runs 30,000 a night against a $1,190 room. At 1:1.3 you move 23,077 of your points to cover it. The transfer clears in about 90 seconds and it only runs one way, so the order matters: hold the night first, move the points second.
Travel bank points · 1 : 1.25
ANA first class to Tokyo is 72,000 round trip through Virgin. The bonus drops your side of it to 57,600.
Miles issuer · 1 : 1.2
Boston to Dublin in business is 62,500 round trip, and the surcharge is $205 — not the $690 you pay booking the same metal through a legacy program.

Lufthansa first to Frankfurt is 87,000. Buying at 1.28¢ costs $1,114 for a seat that sells for $7,300. This is the one time buying miles beats cash.
Amber is friction, not excitement — every countdown on this page is telling you a door is closing, not that you should run through it. How the alert engine decides what’s urgent →
Every award alert service you have used is reading a cache, or reading a feed, or reading somebody's post. We ask the carrier's own availability endpoint the same question a travel agent's terminal asks it — every four minutes, for every route anyone is watching.
The shape of one alert, from the moment inventory changed to the moment somebody wrote about it.
A schedule change frees inventory. Nothing is announced anywhere. The seats exist in the airline's own availability response and nowhere else.
We query the carrier's availability endpoint every 4 minutes for every route anyone is watching. Median lag from seat to sighting: 2m 40s.
Seat map, fare class, taxes, and the transfer path from the balance you hold — 82,400 at the travel bank, 37,600 at the miles issuer, 0 sitting at ANA. Transfer time about 20 minutes.
You had 46 minutes of thinking time and still got both seats. Taxes came to $424 on the pair, charged at ticketing.
Six hours later, with an affiliate link. Both seats had been yours since 14:51. This is the entire reason we poll the airline instead of a feed reader.
Watch a route the same way you’d watch an air fryer on a Target shelf — one rule builder, one alert shape, whether it’s an award seat, a clearance endcap or a 10:00 ET sneaker drop.
Watch my routes“Get me to Tokyo in business for under 80k.”
goat knows which of your balances transfer where, what the ratio is today, which programs are running a bonus, and what the seat actually costs in cash on the same aircraft. It answers with a number and a date, and it says plainly when it hasn’t checked something yet.
ANA has 60k round trip out of JFK on four October dates — that's the cheapest business to Japan that exists and it's bookable through your Amex balance. Two seats each on Oct 8 and Oct 22. The 30% Hyatt bonus doesn't help here, but transferring to Virgin does.
Watch it for a seat on the 15th
Award value is not spread evenly. A handful of programs price a handful of routes far below what the seat sells for, and that is essentially the entire game. Here is the shape of it out of New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
A fuel surcharge gets keyed in wrong, or a currency conversion runs the wrong way, and for a few hours a $980 round trip sells for $212. The finding is the easy part. The part everybody gets wrong is the next 24 hours.

Not through an online travel agency. If the fare is voided, an OTA gives you a case number and three weeks of silence; the airline gives you a refund.
US DOT rules let you cancel any ticket free within 24 hours if you booked 7+ days out. That window is your entire protection — spend it, don't skip it.
No hotel, no positioning flight, no rental car. Roughly 1 in 3 of these gets voided quietly a few days later, and none of that is refundable.
The loud ones die fastest. We post the fare, the routing and the booking class — we don't post the exact keystrokes that keep it alive.
We ship mistake fares to your phone the second they load, with the exact booking class and the routing that prices.

Most points valuations you have read were published by a site earning a commission on the card that earns those points. Ours come from the redemptions our community actually books, re-cut every month, and we print the delta against the blog consensus so you can argue with us.
| Program | Type | Goatavo | Blog average | Δ | Why it moved |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ANA Mileage Club | Airline | 2.4¢ | 1.5¢ | +0.9 | Round-trip-only pricing looks like a restriction, prices like a gift |
| Virgin Atlantic | Airline | 1.9¢ | 1.4¢ | +0.5 | Two partner sweet spots carry the whole program |
| World of Hyatt | Hotel | 2.1¢ | 1.7¢ | +0.4 | Category caps hold while cash rates run away |
| Flying Blue | Airline | 1.4¢ | 1.3¢ | +0.1 | Promo Awards are the only reason to hold a balance |
| Legacy US carrier | Airline | 1.2¢ | 1.4¢ | −0.2 | Dynamic pricing quietly ate the award chart in 2023 |
| Big-box hotel chain | Hotel | 0.7¢ | 0.8¢ | −0.1 | Point inflation outran the resort rate on every category |
A valuation is a median, not a promise. If you only ever redeem for domestic economy, your personal number on any of these is closer to 1.3¢ — and the app will tell you that, using your own redemption history, instead of quoting you an average you will never hit.
Redemption is the fun half. Earning is the half that decides whether the Tokyo seat is one bonus away or three years away. Both live in the same feed, and the same alert engine watches both.
A single 150,000-point welcome bonus is two and a half of the JFK to Tokyo business seats on this page. Goatavo tracks all-time highs, targeted offers, your 5/24 clock and which card in your wallet earns most on the purchase in front of you.
Availability patterns, surcharge tables, which phone agent knows the Star Alliance desk, and the routing tricks that don't survive being written down publicly. Plenty of the same people are in the clearance and drops rooms, which is where a lot of these balances got funded in the first place.
“The seat alert polls the airline, not a blog. I got two ANA business seats on a Tuesday afternoon.”
“It knew my 5/24 dates and told me to hold. The 150k landed nine days later. That's the whole product.”
“Nine minutes of warning is the difference between a pair and a screenshot. I cancelled three cook groups.”
“I was in four Facebook groups, two Discords and a text thread. Everything I actually used is one feed now, and the aisle number is right.”
“It tells me when the 'sale' is the same price it's been all year. I trust that more than the deal itself.”
“The comps are on the card. I stopped opening a second app to work out whether a $17 air fryer was worth the drive.”
The award desk opens with the app. Home airports go into the polling queue first, then the 214 library routes, then whatever anyone adds by hand.
Yes, and this is where most points content fails you. 40,000 is Chicago to Paris one-way in economy on a Flying Blue Promo Award with a $92 surcharge, or two nights at a Hyatt Place in Portland at 8,000 a night with 24,000 left over. Goatavo ranks sweet spots against the balance you hold, not against an aspirational one.
Never. A transfer is one way — once the points leave your issuer they are not coming back, and depending on the partner it clears anywhere between 90 seconds and a business day. goat will not surface a transfer path until it has seen live availability on your exact dates, and it shows you the seat map before it shows you the transfer button.
Search sites cache, most of them on a 6 to 24 hour cycle, and then you refresh a page hoping. We call the carrier's own availability endpoint every 4 minutes for the routes you're watching, and every 45 seconds inside the last 72 hours before departure, which is when phantom-free space actually appears.
Real problem, and we'd rather name it than pretend. Some partner space displays and won't ticket. We track a phantom rate per program and per route; anything above 8% carries an amber flag on the alert that says call the desk rather than click, with the phone number and the average hold time attached.
Both, on the same cents-per-point math. Award nights across the four big chains, the cash-versus-points break-even for each one, and the free-night certificates sitting unused in your account with their expiry dates. The Maldives villa at 30,000 a night against a $1,230 rate is a hotel redemption, not a flight one.
Earning is the other half of this and it lives on the cards page — all-time-high welcome bonuses, your 5/24 clock, targeted offers, and which card in your wallet earns most on the purchase in front of you. A 150,000-point bonus is two and a half of the 60,000-point Tokyo seats on this page.
Still deciding? Founding members go into the first polling wave, and the clearance side of the app is where most people accidentally fund the trip.
